Occupational physiotherapy
An occupational physiotherapist ensures that symptoms that arise at work or are looming in the workplace are addressed.
Occupational physiotherapy (also called workplace physiotherapy) is employed to prevent and treat work-related complaints. The therapist does this, for example, by giving advice about working posture, the set-up of the workplace, and the type of tasks someone performs. This can take place both on an individual basis and at group level.
Treatment by an occupational physiotherapist
When complaints have already arisen, the occupational physiotherapist will also help to tackle them. To treat complaints, they can use various methods such as exercise therapy, advice, and mobilisation techniques for the joints.
The ultimate goal of occupational physiotherapy is to ensure that the employee can return to work in a responsible way and that absenteeism remains as short as possible.
To get as clear a picture as possible of the work situation, an occupational physiotherapist will regularly be present on the work floor and will collaborate with the employer, GP, and occupational health physician.
