Healthcare professionals

Healthcare professionals perform healthcare procedures as part of their profession. They carry out tasks on behalf of or instead of a doctor. A healthcare professional is therefore someone who provides direct or indirect care to patiënts.

The title healthcare professional is a general term and is not, in itself, a position or qualification. Training enables a healthcare professional to perform a specific role or obtain a particular qualification. Examples of healthcare professionals include physiotherapists, podiatrists, speech and language therapists and diëtitians. Healthcare professionals work at various levels.
